What is the difference between primed and unprimed canvas rolls?
Primed canvas has been pre-coated with a layer of gesso (acrylic primer). It is ready to use straight from the roll – no additional surface preparation needed. Unprimed canvas is raw fabric that requires manual application of gesso before painting, which adds time and may result in uneven absorbency.
BYB offers both options: our primed rolls are double-coated with acid‑free gesso for consistent texture and immediate use. For customers who prefer to apply their own primer or require raw fabric for other applications, we also supply unprimed cotton and linen canvas rolls – please inquire with your specifications.
Are your canvas rolls FSC® certified?
Yes. Our cotton and linen canvas rolls are FSC® certified (License code available upon request). We are committed to responsible sourcing from sustainably managed forests and controlled sources.
