The BYB-PAD3 is a spiral-bound canvas pad available in two sub-SKU orientations: PAD3-S (vertical flip) for portrait and figurative work, and PAD3-T (horizontal flip) for landscape and scenic studies. All pads feature 280gsm fine-texture BYB-H1 100% cotton duck triple-primed with acid-free acrylic gesso. The spiral binding folds back a full 360°, enabling flat-lay painting on easels or tables and clean tear-out of finished sheets — the preferred format for art academies, workshops, and high-frequency studio use. What is the difference between primed and unprimed canvas rolls?
Primed canvas has been pre-coated with a layer of gesso (acrylic primer). It is ready to use straight from the roll – no additional surface preparation needed. Unprimed canvas is raw fabric that requires manual application of gesso before painting, which adds time and may result in uneven absorbency.
BYB offers both options: our primed rolls are double-coated with acid‑free gesso for consistent texture and immediate use. For customers who prefer to apply their own primer or require raw fabric for other applications, we also supply unprimed cotton and linen canvas rolls – please inquire with your specifications.
