Typical Applications
The ideal single-SKU solution for frame shops and studios that want one reliable canvas for most projects. At 340gsm with double-warp structure, it stretches cleanly across small and medium frames, holds tension through humidity changes, and does not require the skill level needed for heavy 380gsm+ stock. A workhorse that reduces SKU complexity without sacrificing professional feel.
For art supply retailers building a product ladder, H5-D2 fills the critical gap between student-grade H1 (280gsm) and professional-grade H5 (380gsm). It gives customers a visible step-up in weight and weave quality at a price point that encourages upgrading — the “better” in a good-better-best shelf strategy.
For advanced classes, portfolio preparation courses, and final-year student exhibitions that require a step above basic canvas. H5-D2 provides the professional feel and structural stability that portfolio work demands, while remaining cost-effective enough for institutional budget cycles.

FAQ
What is the difference between primed and unprimed canvas rolls?
Primed Canvas is pre-coated with three layers of acid-free acrylic gesso — ready to use straight from the roll, no surface prep needed.
Unprimed Canvas is raw fabric requiring manual gesso application, which adds time and risks uneven absorbency.
BYB offers both. Our primed rolls feature a triple-coat finish for consistent texture. Unprimed cotton and linen rolls are also available — please inquire with your specifications.
Are your canvas rolls FSC® certified?
Yes. Our cotton and linen canvas rolls are FSC® certified (License code available upon request). We are committed to responsible sourcing from sustainably managed forests and controlled sources. If you require the FSC® certificate or need to reference the license in your documentation, please contact us – we will provide the relevant documents promptly.
Do you offer customization services (OEM/ODM)?
Yes. We provide full customization services, including:
Priming options: Choose from Color Gesso Primed, Hand Absorbent Primed, Hand Oil Primed, or Unprimed to suit specific painting techniques and preferences.
Private label: Your logo, SKU, or barcode printed on the inner core, packaging tube, or carton.
Custom roll dimensions: Any width/length combination available.
Alternative gsm: 200gsm, 330gsm, 380gsm, etc., available on request.
How do you ensure quality consistency across batches?
We maintain factory‑direct in‑line inspection from weaving to priming. Each roll is checked for:
Gesso coating thickness uniformity (for primed products)
Tensile strength (suitable for automatic and manual stretching)
Absence of optical brighteners and yellowing agents
Batch‑to‑batch weight tolerance (e.g., 280±10gsm)
Our quality assurance system ensures that every shipment meets the same standard as your approved sample.
